In 2009 we the Church need to make a special effort to instill the three attributes from the title of this article into our everyday life. I’m not at all suggesting that we do not do these things already but I challenge all to try to be sure that we do make these an everyday part of our Christian walk. Really I think that it is quite difficult to be a Christian and not apply these to our conduct.
Love-
Love the Lord. Luke 10:27a And he answered, “YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND;
Love one another. Luke 10:27b AND YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”
Learn-
Learn God’s Word. 2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.
Learn God’s Will. Ezra 7:10 For Ezra had set his heart to study the law of the LORD and to practice it, and to teach His statutes and ordinances in Israel.
Live-
Live faithfully. Revelation 2:10b Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
Live consistently. 1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.
It is important that as Christians we Love like we should. Learn like we ought to and Live like we want to go to heaven.
I watched the new Iron Man movie for the first time a few weeks ago. For the most part I thought the movie was quite predictable. It was still a fun movie to watch though. However, I was surprised at the end of the movie while Tony Stark was holding a press conference and admitted to the world that he was in fact Iron Man. I thought to myself now that was a surprise. I didn’t see that one coming. Most of the time superheros keep their identity a secret and don’t want everyone to know who they are, but not in this case.
I guess the idea that actually got me thinking was the name Iron Man. The passage out of Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. (NASB) came to mind and sparked a thought. How many men today are the true example of what a Christian man should be? Do we stop and consider that our responsible thoughts and actions actually help to form and even change those around us. That by men acting like men we are some of the greatest superheros ever. Which incidentally also reminded me of another passage of scripture in the New Testament 1 Corinthians 16:13 Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. (NASB)
As men in this old world today and especially as Christian men we ought to be setting an example that other men can appreciate and younger men and boys emulate. From my understanding of God’s will for man’s life it is for him to be the spiritual leader not only of himself but of his spouse and family as well. It seems that by doing things the Lord’s way men not only become a superhero in the eyes of children but we become the men Christ desires for us to be. One that is aware, faithful, strong and portraying himself as a man of God. This is what makes us a real IRON MAN.
